Following the move to cloud hosting, a few concrete things changed for customers:
Location — sites moved to the data center nearest the customer, with the option to run multiple locations for a global presence.
Cloudflare — DNS routing moved through Cloudflare for added security, bot-blocking, and speed.
Email delivery — we switched to Mailgun for sending transactional email from customer sites, since server-side SMTP was too prone to landing in spam folders or failing silently. Mailgun also flags suspicious sending patterns, which helps us catch malicious activity early.
Email hosting — we don't host email boxes ourselves; we've long recommended Google Workspace instead, and helped customers migrate off server-based mailboxes for more secure, reliable email.
Reporting — speed testing became a bigger part of the process, since it's the clearest way to show a real improvement. Cloudflare and Mailgun data now feed directly into monthly reporting, alongside server health.
